EKO HOT BLOG reports that Ejimakor, who disclosed his arrest on his 𝕏 handle, said he was detained alongside several other participants in the demonstration calling for Kanu’s release. According to him, they were being held at the Federal Capital Territory Command Criminal Investigation Department (FCT Command CID) in Garki, Abuja.
He wrote, “We’ve just been arrested. Myself, Prince Emanuel and others. We are at FCT COMMAND CID. Myself, Fine Boy and others. No 1 Zaria Street, Garki 2, Abuja.”
The lawyer also accused security operatives of using teargas to disperse peaceful protesters who had gathered at the Transcorp Hilton area of Abuja earlier in the day. He said the incident caused him irritation in his eyes and throat.
Ejimakor posted, “I’m in front of Transcorp Hilton with a mammoth crowd that gathered for #MNKOct20 and the police just exploded teargas. My eyes and throat hurt. They’re scattering everywhere.”
The protesters had converged in Abuja as part of a nationwide movement demanding the immediate and unconditional release of Nnamdi Kanu, who has remained in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS) since June 2021.
Their demand follows several court rulings that ordered his release, which the Nigerian Government has yet to implement.
