The high-profile meeting was attended by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu; former governors Mr. Babatunde Fashola and Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode; Deputy Governor Dr. Obafemi Hamzat and his wife Oluremi Hamzat; Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa; members of the APC National Working Committee and State Working Committee; as well as serving and former lawmakers, local government chairmen, and traditional, religious, youth, and women leaders.
The motion endorsing Tinubu’s re-election bid was moved by the Ayangburen of Ikorodu, Oba Kabiru Shotobi, and seconded by Speaker Obasa, who described the President’s performance in his first two years as proof of his readiness to continue in office.
“We endorse President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to go for a second term. So, I move,” Oba Shotobi declared.

Obasa added, “In view of the submissions made by all stakeholders and the motion moved by our Royal Majesty, I second the motion that President Tinubu should run again in 2027.”
In his remarks, Governor Sanwo-Olu said the stakeholders’ resolution was unanimous and reflected the will of Lagosians.
“Our President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, was once the 12th Governor of Lagos State. Having listened to all our stakeholders, it is clear that Lagos APC has come to the conclusion that President Tinubu should return as our President in 2027,” Sanwo-Olu said.
Deputy Governor Hamzat emphasized the importance of continuity, describing Tinubu’s administration as courageous, visionary, and reform-driven.
“The leadership under Asiwaju Tinubu is driven by renewed hope, productive governance, and economic recovery,” he said. “It is in our collective interest to ensure continuity so that the progress we’ve made can be sustained.”
He also praised the Sanwo-Olu administration’s THEMES+ Agenda, noting that Lagos has witnessed a remarkable transformation in infrastructure, governance, and human development over the past six years.
“Lagos today stands tall as a model of excellence and a beacon of good governance,” Hamzat said. “From transportation and healthcare to technology and urban planning, other states come to study Lagos because of our consistent planning and execution.”
In a keynote lecture titled “Voter Apathy and the Sanctity of Election in Nigeria’s Budding Democracy,” former Governor Babatunde Fashola urged party leaders to mobilize citizens, particularly the youth, to participate actively in the electoral process.
“Political participation is driven by enthusiasm,” he said. “If people are enthusiastic, they will vote. We must reignite that enthusiasm through the renewed hope agenda.”
Other speakers, including members of the Federal Executive Council and National Assembly, highlighted President Tinubu’s achievements across key sectors since he assumed office on May 29, 2023, commending his ongoing economic and governance reforms.
