EKO HOT BLOG reports that in a statement signed by Kanunta Kanu, the family described the reports as false and malicious, insisting that Sowore played no role in the arrest of the protesters.
Kanunta said it was unfortunate that some individuals, particularly from the South-East, were spreading misinformation about Sowore’s involvement, instead of appreciating his efforts to demand justice.
“Those pointing accusing fingers at Sowore should stop it. Saying that he sold out Barrister Aloy Ejimakor and Prince Emmanuel Kanu is incorrect. He did what he was supposed to do by mobilising Nigerians to protest against injustice,” the statement read.
Kanunta accused some Igbo politicians of sponsoring falsehoods out of embarrassment that a non-Igbo had the courage to champion Kanu’s cause publicly.
He also denied claims that a medical team from the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) had visited Nnamdi Kanu for medical evaluation, as ordered by Justice James Omotosho, describing such reports as entirely untrue.
The family called for the immediate release of Aloy Ejimakor, Prince Emmanuel Kanu, and other protesters detained during what they described as a peaceful demonstration.
According to Kanunta, the Federal Government has continued to persecute Kanu and the Igbo nation under the guise of enforcing the law, warning that the world is watching how Nigeria treats political prisoners and human rights advocates.

He urged the public to disregard the rumours and stand firm for truth and justice, adding that Sowore’s solidarity must be seen as a patriotic act, not betrayal.
