Speaking during the exercise, Hon. Araba Taofeek explained that the legislative team’s mission was to assess hygiene conditions across major markets and ensure strict compliance with the local government’s sanitation regulations.
“Our primary goal is to create a safe, clean, and well-organized trading environment for our people,” he stated. “We will continue to engage traders and residents on the need to take responsibility for maintaining a healthy community.”
Traders operating along walkways and roadsides were cautioned and instructed to move their goods into designated market spaces to ease traffic flow and improve environmental aesthetics.
According to one of the enforcement officers, “Keeping our markets clean is not just a government duty; it is a collective responsibility. Everyone has a role to play in ensuring a livable environment.”

The inspection team also identified several areas that require urgent sanitation attention and urged residents to adopt proper waste disposal habits.
“We cannot build a better Epe without discipline and cleanliness,” another official added.
The Executive Chairman, Hon. (Princess) Surah Olayemi Animashaun, who has been at the forefront of environmental advocacy, commended the legislative arm for its proactive efforts.
“This exercise reinforces our administration’s vision of a greener, healthier, and more organized Epe,” she said.
