Tragedy struck in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, when a 25-year-old man, Hammed Usman Tunde, was allegedly stabbed to death by his friend during a dispute reportedly over a girlfriend.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the incident occurred on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at Oja Gboro Quarters, Ilorin.

Eyewitnesses said the suspect, identified as Gafar, stabbed Tunde in the chest with a knife following a heated argument while the two were patronising a sugarcane vendor.
Tunde, a resident of Ile-Soro 2, Oja Gboro, Isale Koko area, was rushed to a nearby private hospital before being referred to the General Hospital, Ilorin, where he was confirmed dead on arrival.

The 21-year-old suspect, said to be a native of Ile Olowo in the same community, reportedly fled the scene immediately after the attack. His whereabouts and those of his family members remain unknown as of press time.
A female relative of the deceased described the killing as “heartbreaking,” calling on the Kwara State Government and security agencies to ensure justice is served.
Tunde was buried on Wednesday according to Islamic rites at his family home in Oja Gboro, Ilorin.
