More than 1,000 cyclists, from elite professionals to amateur enthusiasts across Nigeria and abroad, are expected to take part, showcasing Lagos’s commitment to innovation, sustainability, and global excellence.
The 170km route begins and ends at Eko Atlantic City, passing through Victoria Island, the Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge, and the Lekki-Epe Expressway to Epe, before returning to a grand finish. Developed in collaboration with the Ministry of Transportation and LASTMA, the route ensures minimal traffic disruption and maximum safety for participants and residents.

Mrs Toke Benson-Awoyinka, Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, said, “The Cycling Challenge highlights Lagos’s potential as a global sports tourism destination. It blends our coastal beauty, world-class infrastructure, and vibrant culture into an event that empowers local communities, inspires healthier lifestyles, and strengthens the creative economy.”
EKO 170 will support small businesses, deepen community engagement, and leave a lasting legacy through youth cycling clinics, the Lagos Cycling Development Fund, and a tree-planting initiative targeting 2,500 new trees. Organisers aim for a zero-waste, carbon-neutral event using recycling, biodegradable materials, and reusable containers.
