In a statement issued on behalf of the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr. Mutiu Agboke, the Commission said the move was to ensure eligible citizens can register, update their information or verify their records ahead of future elections. Phase One of the exercise will run until December 10, 2025.

INEC further disclosed that the Preliminary Register of Voters will be printed between December 13 and 14, followed by the mandatory display for claims and objections from December 16 to 21.
The Commission encouraged the public to visit its 30 local government offices to verify their details, stressing that public scrutiny is essential to maintaining an accurate voter database.
Complaints arising from the display will be received and processed on December 21, while updates to the register will be finalised on December 22 to ensure data integrity.

INEC added that Phase Two of the CVR exercise will commence on January 5, 2026, urging all eligible citizens who have yet to register or update their details to take advantage of the opportunity.
The Commission reiterated its commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s electoral process and cautioned the public to rely on official communication channels to avoid misinformation.
