- TikTok Influencer ‘Madam Oil Rice’ Nabbed for Staging Kidnapping to Gain Followers
- Police revealed that she deleted an earlier version of the video which showed an accomplice urging viewers to follow her page
- Efforts are ongoing to arrest her accomplices
The Edo State Police Command has arrested a 24-year-old TikTok content creator, Osarobo Omoyemen, popularly known as “Madam Oil Rice,” for allegedly staging her own kidnapping in an attempt to boost her social media following.
Eko Hot Blog gathered that Omoyemen was apprehended after investigations revealed that her viral claim of being abducted along Upper Sakponba Road in Benin City was entirely fabricated.

In a video that has since been deleted, she alleged that she was rescued by police operatives, detained at Akpata Police Station, and compelled to pay a N10,000 bail fee.
In a statement, the Police Public Relations Officer, CPS Moses Yamu, said the command immediately launched an investigation after the video began circulating.
“Findings revealed that the entire story was completely fabricated and deliberate. The suspect has been identified, arrested, and charged to court on Thursday, 20 November 2025. Efforts are ongoing to arrest her accomplices to ensure they face the full weight of the law,” Yamu said.
He warned the public against spreading false information capable of causing panic or undermining security operations.
“Members of the public are advised to verify information before sharing and to refrain from acts that may mislead the public or undermine the efforts of security agencies,” he added.

During interrogation, Omoyemen allegedly confessed that she staged the kidnapping solely to generate online content and attract more TikTok followers.
Police revealed that she deleted an earlier version of the video which showed an accomplice urging viewers to follow her page, an act investigators say confirmed the motive behind the stunt.
According to the Command, the false alarm was not only misleading but capable of “inciting hostility against the Police and triggering unnecessary tension within the state.” The arrest, it said, is intended to deter social media users from exploiting public safety concerns for online engagement.
