Members of the 1989 Set of the Army Children High School Old Students Association returned to their alma mater in Epe after 36 years, reconnecting with the school and pledging support for its growth and development.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the alumni were warmly received by the Senior School Principal, Mr. Adesanya, and the Junior School Principal, Mrs. Eriinle, before touring classrooms, facilities, and other areas to assess the school’s needs.

During their visit, the alumni met with school management to discuss possible projects and interventions.
The Vice President of the 1989 Set, Oluwole Kemi, said, “This school shaped us in many ways. We are determined to contribute meaningfully so today’s students can enjoy better learning conditions and greater opportunities.”
The team also held a motivational session for students, where each representative shared insights to inspire and guide them.
Secretary General Michael Olubunmi Jonathan encouraged students to stay focused, saying, “Your education is the most powerful tool you have right now. Stay committed, stay focused, and believe in your potential.”
Oluwole Kemi, Vice President, urged students to uphold good character, noting, “Respect your teachers, cherish your training, and hold on to strong morals. Success comes easier when your character is strong and disciplined.”
Board of Trustees member Aghaebe Francis emphasized perseverance and resilience, adding, “Nothing good comes without effort. Face challenges with determination and build habits that prepare you for the future you desire.”
Chief Whip Dr. Ishola Toheeb warned against negative influences, saying, “Your future is too precious to waste. Stay away from drugs, bad company, and anything that can derail your dreams. Focus on becoming the best version of yourself.”
As part of their contribution, the 1989 Set donated over 2,000 ,80 leaves higher note books to the junior and senior schools, along with packs of refill markers for teachers.
The principals expressed gratitude for the support, noting the materials would significantly aid teaching and learning.
The alumni also visited the old school site, now home to the LASU Engineering Campus, where they met with the head of campus, Professor Elkanah Oyetunji, who briefed them on the available programs and academic courses.
The alumni toured the old buildings, reflecting on memories from their school days.
Secretary General Michael Olubunmi Jonathan assured that this was just the beginning of the set’s engagement, saying, “We will take our observations back to the wider alumni community and return with concrete, impactful projects that will benefit both students and staff.”
The visit concluded with photographs, camaraderie, and a renewed sense of purpose among the alumni, leaving both students and school staff inspired by the commitment of the 1989 Set.
