The Chief Imam, Sheikh Abdul-Azeez Ajibola, and the Deputy Chief Imam, Sheikh Abdul-Rafiu Tajudeen, graced the event, lending it added significance. They were joined by the mosque’s administrators and the Guest Lecturer, Fadilat Sheikh (Prof.) Ismail Musa, the Chief Imam of the University of Lagos Central Mosque.
Missionaries and scholars from across the community also attended, describing the Wolimot stage as a vital foundation in a child’s Islamic learning journey. The programme opened with prayers led by senior scholars, who invoked Allah’s blessings upon the pupils, their families, and the teachers who nurtured them.
The prayers created a serene spiritual ambience that set the tone for the day’s activities. A major highlight was the Qur’anic recitation segment, where the graduands confidently displayed their tajweed, memorisation abilities, and Islamic manners, earning warm applause from the audience.

Officials noted that the children’s performance reflected the strength and discipline of the Madrasah’s instructional system.
In their remarks, Sheikh Ajibola and Sheikh Tajudeen emphasised the importance of introducing Qur’anic education early in a child’s life, stressing that it cultivates discipline, good character, and a firm Islamic identity. They urged parents to remain supportive as the children progress to more advanced learning levels.
Delivering his lecture, Fadilat Sheikh (Prof.) Ismail Musa advised the students to apply their Qur’anic knowledge with sincerity, stressing that the goal of the Holy Qur’an remains true and lasting success.
Teachers and missionaries received glowing commendations from both parents and organisers for their dedication, patience, and moral guidance. Scholars also highlighted that Modrasah Rahmah is committed to nurturing disciplined, responsible, and well-mannered Muslims—not just proficient reciters.

The ceremony featured multiple presentations, from Qur’anic recitations to moral teachings and demonstrations of Islamic etiquette, giving parents a deeper appreciation of the wide-ranging training provided. Graduands were then awarded certificates, Qur’ans, and learning materials to encourage them as they advance.
Families celebrated the day with joy, applauding the children’s achievements and acknowledging noticeable improvements in their conduct and spiritual awareness.
Community leaders also commended the Onike Community Mosque for prioritising Islamic education and investing in the moral development of the next generation.

The smooth execution of the event was credited to the mosque’s leadership and administrative team, including Chief Imam Sheikh Abdul-Azeez Ajibola, Deputy Imam Sheikh Abdul-Rafiu Tajudeen, Head of Teachers Ustaz Nurudeen Jubril, Deputy Head Ustaz Shakirudeen Lasisi, and administrative officers Engr. Abdul-Lateef Ladeji, Alh. Abdul-Waheed Ibrahim, Ustaz Abdul-Ganiy Niass, Alh. Abdul-Fatai Abidogun, Alh. Abdul-Akeem Jimoh, Alh. Mallam Muhammed, Pham Abdul-Akeem Ikolaba (UK), and Sheikh Sulaimon Oloyin. Their combined spiritual, academic, and organisational commitment ensured the ceremony’s success.
The programme ended with a closing prayer and group photographs capturing the joy and fulfilment on the faces of pupils, parents, and teachers.
Ultimately, the maiden Wolimot Qur’an Ceremony of Modrasah Rahmah marks a remarkable milestone for the Onike community and sets a strong foundation for future editions.
