- Nine-day anniversary celebration of HRM Oba Abdulrasaq Akanni Musa concluded with grand finale at Orijeru Palace

Igbooye Kingdom, in Eredo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Epe Division of Lagos State, celebrated the grand finale of the first Coronation Anniversary of HRM Oba Abdulrasaq Akanni Musa, the Orijeru of Igbooye Kingdom, on Saturday, December 27, 2025.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the event marked the culmination of a nine-day program that began with a Jumat service, bringing together the monarch, his family, royal fathers, community leaders, and residents to give thanks for a successful and peaceful first year on the throne of his forefathers.
The nine-day program featured a range of activities aimed at fostering community development, cultural heritage, and unity. On the first day, Friday, December 19, 2025, the monarch led a Jumat service at the Central Mosque, Igbooye, to express gratitude to Almighty Allah.
The following day featured the installation of traditional chiefs at the palace, moderated by HRM Oba Sikiru Ebudola Alugbin, the Onilada of Ladaba Kingdom, with other royal fathers present including HRM Oba Kolawole Ayodele Aliru (Alade Uraka of Poka), HRM Oba Musiliu Abiola Oliwo (Aladepekun of Odo-Egiri Kingdom), HRM Oba Sulaiman Adeshina Adebowale (Omola of Odomola Kingdom), HRM Oba Adelani Oluwafummilade Adeniyi (Adegbawojo of Odo-Gbawojo Kingdom), and the Onilepia of Lepia Kingdom.
Subsequent days featured an anniversary thanksgiving service, laying of blocks for the Igbooye Primary Health Center, the New Igbooye Town Hall and Recreation Center, commissioning of the NALDA Farm House at Toguye, installation of Baales and honorary chiefs, school programs including football competitions between ruling houses, and the Ewade Day/Olori Ebi 20th Anniversary celebrations. Friday, December 26, was dedicated to a Walk for Life, leading up to the grand finale at the Orijeru Palace on Saturday, December 27, 2025.
The grand finale included an anniversary lecture on the topic: New Money,Old Hierarchy:The politics of traditionalinstitutions in 21st Century Yorubaland, which was delivered by Professor Olumuyiwa Viatonu of LASUED, Epe Campus, and a powerful performance by Queen Salawa Abeni, among other cultural displays.
During the grand finale, HRM Oba Abdulrasaq Akanni Musa expressed heartfelt appreciation to the Lagos State Government, led by Governor Babajide Olushola Sanwo-Olu, and to the Executive Chairman of Eredo LCDA, Hon. Ismail Monsuru Akinloye.
He said, “Hon. Ismail Monsuru Akinloye is a good leader. He serves all communities under his administration adequately.
He specifically promised to provide a Health Centre in Igbooye, and the project has commenced. I want to commend him for his love and concern for Igbooye.”
The monarch also thanked fellow royal fathers, community leaders, family members, the queen, and all sons and daughters of Igbooye for their unwavering support and loyalty.
He said, “I sincerely appreciate all my chiefs, religious and community leaders, my family members, my dependable and highly reliable brother,
Otunba AbdulWasiu Ishola Musa-Adebamowo, my amiable and ever-supportive wife, the queen of this kingdom, and all sons and daughters of Igbooye, for believing in me and standing by me through thick and thin. I pray that Almighty Allah will continue to bless and protect us as we take Igbooye to greater heights.”
The Olori Ebi General of Igbooye Kingdom, who doubles as Olori Ebi of Ewade Ruling House, assured all the sons and daughters of Igbooye Kingdom to remain united and loyal to Oba Abdulrasaq, noting, “The vision of the monarch and his royal family is great for Igbooye.”
HRH Olori Shakirat Abidemi Musa, in an interview with her, also commended all the people of Igbooye, traditional rulers from other kingdoms who have accommodated her husband as one of them, family members, and well-wishers for continuously cooperating with Oba Abdulrasaq.
She urged all indigenes of Igbooye to continue to support all the good plans for the kingdom, saying, “I encourage everyone to stand by our monarch and his vision for a prosperous and united Igbooye Kingdom.”
The Executive Chairman of Eredo LCDA, Hon. Ismail Monsuru Akinloye, represented by his Vice, Hon. AbdulLateef Adesanya, described the monarch’s reign as impactful, stating, “Oba Abdulrasaq’s reign has reshaped the ancient town in terms of development, unity, and peaceful living. He has given adequate support to government without jeopardizing the interest of his people.
I wish him long life and a prosperous reign, and I urge the people of Igbooye to remain law-abiding, peaceful, and supportive of their monarch.”
The monarch’s schoolmates, Dr. Salami Lukmon Adeniyi, Mrs. Abiola Balogun, and Mrs. Sherifat Adenike Bello-Adeosho, congratulated him, saying, “On behalf of all members of our set, we congratulate our schoolmate, now a great king, HRM Oba Abdulrasaq Akanni Musa, on the occasion of his 1st Year Coronation Anniversary.
We wish him long reign and implore all sons and daughters of Igbooye, including the queen, to continue their support, cooperation, and loyalty, as we are certain of great development and transformation under his reign.”
The monarch expressed gratitude to all attendees, adding, “I love you all and wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year in advance.”
