Renowned entertainment icon Queen Latifah hosted the star-studded event, making a triumphant return to the AMA stage exactly 31 years after her initial co-hosting appearance back in 1995.
The night proved to be an outstanding showcase for global K-pop, spearheaded by powerhouse group BTS clinching the highly coveted Artist of the Year award.
Their momentum extended deep into the newly added categories, picking up Song of the Summer for their track “SWIM,” while their HYBE label mates, global girl group KATSEYE, enjoyed a stellar evening by winning New Artist of the Year, Breakthrough Pop Artist, and Best Music Video for their hit single “Gnarly.”
Adding to the cross-continental success, the virtual group HUNTR/X—featuring the joint vocal performances of EJAE, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami, secured massive general field wins, walking away with Song of the Year, Best Pop Song, and Best Vocal Performance for the track “Golden” from the KPop Demon Hunters project.
In the mainstream urban and pop fields, top-tier soloists held their ground against the K-pop surge. R&B icon Bruno Mars achieved a clean genre sweep by winning Best Male R&B Artist, Best R&B Song for “I Just Might,” and Best R&B Album for his project The Romantic.
Rap queen Cardi B dominated the hip-hop rankings, securing Best Female Hip-Hop Artist, Best Hip-Hop Song for “ErrTime,” and Best Hip-Hop Album for her acclaimed record AM I THE DRAMA?.

Meanwhile, pop sensation Sabrina Carpenter translated her massive chart success into hardware, claiming Best Female Pop Artist, Best Pop Album, and the overall Album of the Year title for Man’s Best Friend, completely bypassing Taylor Swift, who despite leading the initial nomination pool with eight nods, walked away empty-handed.
The 2026 iteration also placed a strong emphasis on continuous cultural impact and humanitarian outreach.
Rock trailblazer Billy Idol was decorated with the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award for his decades of counter-culture influence, country veteran Darius Rucker received the Veterans Voice Award, and South African sensation Tyla triumphed as the Best Afrobeats Artist alongside a Social Song of the Year win for “CHANEL.”
Furthermore, because the gala coincided directly with the Memorial Day holiday, the executive producers launched the “2026 AMAs Salute” initiative, establishing active fundraising partnerships with 11 major military and veterans groups, including the USO and the Congressional Medal of Honor Society, to support military families nationwide.
