- Keyamo says Atiku and Obi can’t work together in 2027
- Labels merger talks as unrealistic and politically naïve
- Urges Nigerians to focus on current reforms, not recycled alliances
Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has poured cold water on talks of a possible Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi joint ticket for the 2027 presidential election.
In a report by Eko Hot Blog, Keyamo dismissed the idea as unrealistic, stating that both political figures have different interests and ambitions that may not align. He further argued that the chances of the former PDP and Labour Party candidates working together are slim, especially with the complexities of Nigeria’s political landscape and voter expectations.

Speaking during a recent political chat, the senior minister said any expectation of an Atiku-Obi merger was simply “a fantasy,” suggesting that neither man would want to play second fiddle in the political equation. According to him, both Atiku and Obi believe they are individually qualified to lead Nigeria and have built separate political identities that may not merge smoothly.
Keyamo also touched on the performance of the current administration under President Bola Tinubu, defending it against criticisms from the opposition. He urged Nigerians to be patient, noting that economic reforms often take time before yielding results.

He further accused the opposition of capitalizing on public frustration without offering any credible alternative, adding that many of those criticizing the government today had their chance in the past but failed to bring any significant progress.
The aviation minister also pointed out that the upcoming election season will not be business as usual, as Nigerians are now more politically aware and unlikely to fall for recycled promises.
While speculation around an Atiku-Obi partnership continues to stir online debate, Keyamo insists that such a move would only expose deeper cracks within the opposition camp, rather than strengthen it.
