EKO HOT BLOG reports that the APC Director of Publicity, Bala Ibrahim, made the statement while reacting to speculations that Jonathan may be aligning with the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Jonathan recently met with the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, in Abuja on September 12, and later held talks with the ADC National Chairman, Senator David Mark, alongside other leaders of the coalition party on September 25. However, the former president has yet to make any official declaration about his political plans.
Speaking in an interview with The Punch, Ibrahim said Jonathan’s possible move to the ADC would not change the political equation, insisting that the APC remains the dominant party with broad national support.
He recalled that the APC defeated Jonathan in 2015 when he was “full of confidence” in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and therefore believes that defeating him again would be easy.
He said, “Our party defeated him when he was full of confidence in the PDP, and the PDP itself was very confident then, thinking it would rule the country for 60 years. How can our party not beat him now that he has lost confidence in the PDP and is joining a party that has no real political weight?”
Ibrahim added that the ADC lacks the structure and coordination to challenge the APC’s political strength.

“Beating him will be easy because the ADC is not organised. With the overwhelming support of Nigerians that we enjoy, the APC will defeat him in the 2027 race regardless of his political party,” he stated.
