Former federal lawmaker, Senator Tokunbo Afikuyomi, has been appointed Chairman of the Advisory Council of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu/Kadir Obafemi Hamzat Independent Campaign Group (PBAT-KOH ICG) ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the appointment was ratified during a strategic meeting held in Lagos as the campaign group moves to strengthen its organisational structures and grassroots mobilisation ahead of the commencement of its campaign activities.
The meeting brought together key political stakeholders, including the National Director General of PBAT-ICG, Senator Wasiu Sanni Eshinlokun; Dr. Seyi Bamigbade, who represented the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Prince Tajudeen Oluyole Olusi (OON); and the Principal Director General of PBAT-KOH ICG Lagos State, Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu Dullar, among other members of the campaign structure.
The appointment of Senator Afikuyomi is expected to strengthen the advisory and strategic coordination framework of the campaign group as it prepares to deploy its structures across different levels of the electorate.
Speaking at the strategic session, Senator Eshinlokun said the group was focused on developing an effective grassroots structure capable of reaching communities, wards, and polling units across the country.
He emphasized the importance of coordinated mobilisation and the deployment of polling booth canvassers as part of efforts to establish a strong presence at the grassroots.
According to him, the Independent Campaign Group is prepared to leverage its network and organisational structures in support of President Tinubu’s re-election bid and the continuation of the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Also speaking, Dr. Seyi Bamigbade confirmed that Senator Afikuyomi’s appointment was in line with the directives and leadership vision of the Board of Trustees Chairman, Prince Tajudeen Oluyole Olusi (OON).
Bamigbade explained that the Advisory Council would provide strategic direction and guidance while promoting greater coordination among the various support networks operating under the campaign structure.
He said the objective was to bring different support groups and political structures together under a coordinated framework capable of enhancing grassroots engagement and campaign effectiveness.
The meeting also provided an avenue for the leadership of the PBAT-KOH ICG to deliberate on preparations for the forthcoming campaign activities and the strengthening of its structures across Lagos State and beyond.
With Senator Afikuyomi now leading the Advisory Council, the group is expected to intensify consultations and strategic planning as it works towards establishing a coordinated campaign network ahead of the 2027 elections.
The PBAT-KOH ICG leadership maintained that effective grassroots mobilisation, structured coordination, and collaboration among its various support networks would remain central to its activities as preparations for the 2027 electoral season progress.
