The Ogun State Police Command has arrested 23 foreign nationals in connection with an alleged Ponzi scheme, visa scam and other immigration-related offences in the Ota area of the state.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the suspects were arrested during a raid on a residential building by operatives of the Atan-Ota Divisional Police Station following intelligence about suspected fraudulent activities at the location.

The command’s spokesperson, Oluseyi Babaseyi, disclosed this in a statement on Monday.
According to him, the police mobilised to the location at about 11am on Tuesday, secured the premises and arrested the suspects for investigation.
“The raid followed credible intelligence received by the police concerning suspected fraudulent activities at the location,” Babaseyi said.
He said preliminary investigations led to 21 of the suspects being handed over to the Nigeria Immigration Service on August 5 for further investigation and appropriate action.
However, two suspects were retained by the police for possible prosecution over alleged obtaining by false pretence and other related offences.
Babaseyi said the investigation was ongoing to determine the full circumstances surrounding the alleged fraudulent activities and identify other individuals who may be connected with the scheme.
