Former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has praised Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, describing him as one of the outstanding ministers who served in his administration.
Eko Hot Blog gathered that Jonathan spoke in Bauchi during the commissioning of 18 township road projects completed by the state government, where he commended Mohammed’s performance both as a former minister and as governor.
The former president said Mohammed’s achievements in Bauchi did not come as a surprise because of his long-standing commitment to public service and development.
“I am therefore not surprised by these achievements, having known Governor Bala Mohammed over the years and being aware of his passion for service, determination to deliver democratic dividends and unwavering commitment to development,” Jonathan said.
He noted that the governor’s performance had justified the confidence placed in him by the people of Bauchi State.
In his remarks, Mohammed acknowledged Jonathan’s influence on his approach to governance, saying his experience as a minister under the former president taught him valuable lessons in managing public resources and delivering projects.
The governor said Jonathan’s administration emphasised the importance of having clear development priorities, making efficient use of available resources, monitoring projects regularly and completing them within set timelines.
“Whatever I have learnt as a politician, I learnt a great deal from Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan,” Mohammed said.
He described Jonathan as both a mentor and father figure, crediting the former president with contributing significantly to his political and leadership development.
Mohammed said the newly completed roads were part of his administration’s efforts to improve infrastructure and use government resources to create tangible benefits for residents.
According to him, functional road networks are essential to economic growth because they improve transportation, connect communities and make it easier for residents to access schools, hospitals and commercial centres.
“Our desire was to leave legacies and landmarks, and Your Excellency, we have delivered on that commitment,” the governor said.
Jonathan also praised the Bauchi government for its investments in key sectors, including infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture and human capital development.
He urged residents to support the administration while protecting government facilities and infrastructure provided for public use.
