Mohammed admitted that internal disputes and intense court litigations had triggered a wave of defections to rival parties, structurally diminishing the PDP’s legislative strength.
However, he maintained that the formal resolution of the party’s leadership crisis on April 30, which cemented the National Working Committee under Abdulrahman Mohammed and Samuel Anyanwu, marks the beginning of a unified electoral comeback.
Central to the PDP’s renewed optimism is what the party characterizes as a widespread disconnect between the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) lawmakers and the grassroots electorate.
The opposition spokesman asserted that a significant portion of the current legislative majority has failed to deliver impactful oversight or maintain meaningful communication with their local constituencies, leaving voters aggrieved and demanding change.

Mohammed argued that the high caliber of aspirants currently purchasing PDP expression of interest forms and clearing internal screening processes demonstrates that the party is positioning formidable candidates capable of capturing battleground seats.
Repositioning itself as the true vehicle for public expectations, the PDP high command emphasized that its structures are moving past internal grievances to focus entirely on legal and democratic mobilization.
The party’s strategy relies heavily on capitalizing on the prevailing socioeconomic tensions to tilt the legislative balance of power in both the Senate and the House of Representatives.
By combining institutional stability with targeted grassroots campaigns, the PDP expects not only to build a robust legislative majority but also to mount a successful challenge for the nation’s presidency when the 2027 polls open.
