The Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences (Enforcement) Unit has arrested 46 suspected offenders during a coordinated enforcement operation targeting criminal activities across Lagos Island, Victoria Island and the Lekki corridor.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the operation, which began at about 9 a.m. on Friday, was carried out at several identified hotspots, including Muri Okunola Park in Victoria Island, Obalende Underbridge, Law School Junction, Maroko, Sandfill near Mobil Bus Stop and Marwa Bus Stop.

In a statement issued on Friday, the agency’s spokesperson, Abdulraheem Gbadeyan, said the exercise was part of the government’s ongoing efforts to rid the state of street urchins, miscreants, drug addicts and other individuals suspected of engaging in criminal activities.
He explained that enforcement officers also went after suspected drug peddlers, illegal commercial motorcyclists, street traders and ticket touts operating in violation of the law.
According to Gbadeyan, 46 suspects were arrested during the operation, while officers recovered substances suspected to be Indian hemp, Colorado and cannabis. A cutlass and a locally made Dane gun were also seized from some of the suspects.
He added that normalcy was restored in all the affected areas after the enforcement exercise.
The Chairman of the Lagos Taskforce, CSP Adetayo Akerele, reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to ensuring that criminal elements have no hiding place anywhere in the state.
Akerele assured residents that similar operations would continue across Lagos to strengthen public safety and maintain law and order.
The spokesperson added that all the suspects would be prosecuted in line with the Lagos State Environmental Management and Protection Law, 2017, and the Lagos State Transport Sector Reform Law, 2018.
