Erepoto, Epe, was filled with a blend of emotion, gratitude, and celebration as the Jegede family hosted a remarkable dual event where Alhaji Chief Razaq Adebisi Jegede marked the 45-year remembrance of his late mother, Alhaja Safurat Ajoke Jegede, while his children and loved ones celebrated his 95th birthday.

The programme commenced with a solemn prayer session for the peaceful repose of Alhaja Safurat Ajoke Jegede, as clerics emphasized the importance of remembering the departed through prayers and righteous acts.
“Remembrance prayers remain one of the greatest ways to show love to those we have lost, as it keeps their memory alive and seeks mercy for their souls,” a cleric noted.
Amid the reflective atmosphere, guests also celebrated the remarkable life of Alhaji Jegede at 95, describing him as a man of integrity, humility, and unwavering devotion to both family and faith.
Speaking on behalf of the family, Abdulwasiu Olaniran Jegede described his father as a role model whose values have shaped the lives of his children.
“He has been a good example to all of us, and I am proud to be called his son,” he said.
“Our father never believed in inconveniencing anyone, but he motivated us to build our own lives and secure our future.”
He added, “He would always say, ‘Don’t celebrate my birthday, build your own house and I will come there to celebrate with you.’ To the glory of God, all his children achieved that.”
He further reflected on his father’s devotion to his late mother.
“For 45 years since he lost his mother, he has never missed a year without praying for her. That consistency has taught us a powerful lesson about love and responsibility, and it is a legacy we will continue to uphold.”
Also speaking, Mrs. Isiaka Tawakalitu praised her father’s kindness and generosity.
“Our father is a man of peace and compassion who has touched many lives. We pray that Allah continues to grant him good health and long life,” she said.
Princess Olawunmi Atanda Jegede expressed appreciation for the turnout and support from guests.
“We sincerely appreciate everyone who came to celebrate our father. Your presence and prayers mean so much to us,” she said.
She also acknowledged the support of Otunba TJ Abass.
“We thank Otunba TJ Abass for his unwavering support to our family. May God bless and reward him abundantly.”
In his remarks, the President of LASCOTA, Engr. Lawrence Ajayi described Alhaji Jegede as a symbol of discipline and purposeful living.
“At 95, his life stands as a testimony of God’s grace and a model for younger generations to emulate,” he said.
Some of the dignitaries present at the occasion included the NUPENG Chairman, Apapa Terminal 1, Comrade Mumeen Amuda; Alhaji Abdulwaheed Abdulasisi, Treasurer of Iba Local Government; Cor Oladiran from Ibadan Ojo Cantonment; Alhaja Kafayat Singer Ajoke; as well as the CEO Meerahgold Venture and Famak Confectionery.
The event served as a powerful reminder of the importance of family, faith, and legacy, as Alhaji Jegede honoured his late mother while his children celebrated his remarkable 95 years of impactful living.
