Glowing Tributes For Pastor Mayowa Ikuforiji On 60th Birthday And 38th Wedding Anniversary

In a heartwarming celebration of six remarkable decades on this earth and 38 years of enduring love, tributes poured in from family, friends, colleagues, and esteemed personalities for Pastor (Mrs.) Mayowa Ikuforiji last Sunday in Lagos State.

Her husband, Rt. Hon. Dr. Adeyemi Ikuforiji, the former Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, took a moment to reminisce on their incredible journey, which defied differences in upbringing and religion.

Dr. Ikuforiji fondly recalled, “I married my wife when she was just 22 years old, fresh out of university with her first degree.

“She’s a virtuous woman with an abundance of lovely attributes. Today, I am overjoyed because reaching the age of 60 and celebrating 38 years of marriage with her is nothing short of a miracle. We faced our share of ups and downs, but God steadied our ship.”

He continued, sharing the heartwarming story of how he suggested celebrating her birthday.

“She initially planned for a Saturday celebration with the children and others, but when I arrived, I proposed we host a family gathering on Saturday and reserve Sunday for her birthday thanksgiving and reception,” the celebrant’s husband said.

“I even donated a cow to the church and ensured there was plenty of food. To make it even more special, we held the reception right in our own compound since she didn’t want a hall event. She was delighted by the idea. I’m a Muslim, and she’s a Christian. Our love and tolerance for each other transcend our religious differences.”

Reflecting on the broader context of unity, Dr. Ikuforiji emphasised, “Divisive politicians are the ones tearing our nation apart along religious lines for their selfish gains. We should remain united and tolerant of one another’s faith as we serve God in our unique ways. Celebrating my beloved wife today fills me with immense joy.”

The outpouring of affection extended beyond the immediate family. Pastor (Mrs.) Ikuforiji’s sister, who travelled from abroad, expressed deep love and admiration for her sibling, highlighting their unique bond as just the two of them.

The celebrant’s son took a moment to appreciate the attendees for joining in the celebration of his beloved mother.

Colleagues from their shared government service days also shared glowing tributes, highlighting Pastor (Mrs.) Ikuforiji’s exceptional qualities. A childhood friend, who had shared their school years, added a touch of nostalgia and heartfelt warmth to the event.
