- TikTok has been removed from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store in compliance with a U.S. law requiring ByteDance to divest the app.
- The U.S. Supreme Court upheld the law, citing national security concerns, and gave ByteDance until January 2025 to sell its U.S. operations or face a ban.
- TikTok informed users of the ban, while another ByteDance app, Lemon8, also issued a similar notice about its unavailability.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that the move comes after the U.S. Supreme Court upheld the Protecting Americans from Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act, signed into law by President Joe Biden in April 2024.

As a result, U.S. users can no longer download TikTok from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. On Apple’s App Store, users trying to access TikTok’s page are greeted with the message: “This app is currently not available in your country or region.” Similarly, the Google Play Store shows: “We’re sorry, the requested URL was not found on this server.”

TikTok has also informed users about the app’s shutdown in a message on its platform, saying: “Sorry, TikTok isn’t available right now.
