Residents of Dutse, the Jigawa State capital, panicked after a decomposed human body was discovered on Kandahar Hill, located opposite the Dutse General Hospital.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the police have since identified the deceased as Ado Barau, a 37-year-old man popularly known as Jojo, who had a history of mental illness.
The incident, which authorities reported to the police on September 16, prompted detectives from the Dutse Division to visit the scene. Due to the advanced state of decomposition and foul odor, officials buried the body on-site.
The burial took place in the presence of the deceased’s family members, representatives from traditional institutions, and operatives from the DSS, NSCDC, and FRSC. The deceased’s elder brother, Rabiu Shehu, and local leaders confirmed that Barau had been battling mental illness and dismissed widespread rumors that his body parts were missing.
Police Public Relations Officer, SP Shi’isu Adam, urged the public to ignore these fake news reports. He emphasized the importance of vigilance and prompt reporting of suspicious activities to prevent public fear.
He also reassured residents that the police command remains committed to transparency, professionalism, and the protection of lives and property.
