Mr. Oyomowie, who represents the family of Joseph Zolo, a suspect who died in police custody, was reportedly harassed when he visited the police station with the youth leader of Biogbolo Community and two relatives of the deceased. They had gone to inquire about the circumstances of Zolo’s death.
In the petition, which was also sent to the Inspector General of Police, the NBA raised concerns about the actions of the Puff Adder Unit, describing them as alarming violations of human rights.

The petition, signed by NBA Yenagoa Branch Chairman, Barrister Somina Johnbull, and the Chairman of the Human Rights Committee, Lugard Tare-Otu, called for an urgent investigation to ensure justice and protect the rights of Bayelsa residents.
