A Kano High Court, led by Justice Sanusi Ado Ma’aji, has issued an interim order barring the Inspector General of Police (IGP), the Kano State Commissioner of Police, and other officers from arresting, detaining, or harassing Muhuyi Magaji Rimingado, Chairman of the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the lawsuit was filed by the Kano State Attorney General, the Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission, and Rimingado. Justice Ma’aji issued the order after the plaintiffs submitted an ex parte motion. The court directed the defendants to refrain from summoning or interfering with Rimingado or his commission’s activities, pending the hearing of the motion on notice.
The restraining order also suspends any police actions connected to the matter, including Rimingado’s scheduled appearance at police headquarters in Abuja on January 27, 2025.

Additionally, the court approved serving legal documents on defendants outside its jurisdiction via Red Star Express Plc. The case was adjourned to February 10, 2025, for the motion’s hearing.

The police’s attempted arrest of Rimingado reportedly stems from an investigation into the alleged diversion of N4 billion by Bala Muhammad Inuwa, former Managing Director of the Kano Agricultural Supply Company Limited (KASCO).
Rimingado, previously granted bail, had been ordered to report to Abuja for further questioning before the court’s intervention.
