Railway Unions Pledge Support to New NRC M.D, Opeifa

- The both unions gathered yesterday at the corporation’s headquarters in Lagos to assure the newly appointed Managing Director, Comrade Kayode Opeifa, of their unwavering support in fostering a harmonious working relationship.
- It was gathered that as a result of the strong support from the unions and their confidence in Opeifa’s commitment to addressing their demands, a proposed strike has been suspended to allow the new MD time to settle into his role.
The workers’ unions of the Nigerian Railway Corporation have expressed confidence in the leadership of Dr. Kayode Opeifa as the new Managing Director of the Nigeria Railway Corporation (NRC).
EKO HOT BLOG reports that the union consist of the Senior Staff Association of Statutory Corporations and Government Owned Companies (SSASCGOC) affiliated with the Trade Union Congress (TUC), and the Nigeria Union of Railway Workers (NUR) affiliated with the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC).

The both unions gathered yesterday at the corporation’s headquarters in Lagos to assure the newly appointed Managing Director, Comrade Kayode Opeifa, of their unwavering support in fostering a harmonious working relationship.
Representatives from both unions expressed their commitment to collaborate closely with Comrade Opeifa, as they aim to enhance service delivery and workers’ welfare within the NRC.
At the maiden meeting with the two unions led by Comrade Okeke Chukwuemeka M. president general of (SSASCGOC) and Comrade Innocent Luka Ajiji president general of (NURW) presented their congratulatory letters to the new helmsman and wished him a successful tenure, while pledging their commitment to a harmonious working system to position the railway sector in line with the transformation agenda of the present administration.
In response, Opeifa thanked the unions for their warm welcome and expressed his dedication to prioritize staff welfare and modernize the national rail system to better connect all states of the federation.
