Chelsea forward João Félix has joined AC Milan on loan until the end of the season, with the Italian club paying a £5 million loan fee.
The deal does not include an obligation to buy the 25-year-old Portugal international in the summer.
Although Milan officially announced the transfer on Tuesday, all necessary paperwork was completed before Monday’s Serie A and Premier League transfer deadline.

Félix initially moved to Chelsea on a £45 million permanent deal last August, signing a seven-year contract after a previous loan spell at Stamford Bridge during the latter half of the 2022-23 season.
His switch to Milan came under unusual circumstances, as Chelsea and Atlético Madrid orchestrated a player exchange. Blues academy graduate Conor Gallagher joined the Spanish club in a £33 million move, while Chelsea’s pursuit of Atlético striker Samu Omorodion ultimately fell through. The Félix deal reportedly helped Atlético secure the funds needed to finalize Gallagher’s transfer.
With just one year remaining on his Chelsea contract, Gallagher was sold to generate profit and prevent the risk of losing him on a free transfer in 2025.
Félix, meanwhile, has struggled for regular Premier League action this season, making just three starts. However, he has been more involved in domestic cup competitions, scoring seven goals.

The Portuguese forward began his career at Benfica before securing a £113 million move to Atlético Madrid in July 2019—at the time, the fifth-most expensive transfer in football history. He spent the 2023-24 season on loan at Barcelona before returning to Chelsea last summer.
Milan, currently eighth in Serie A, are set to face Roma in the Coppa Italia quarter-finals on Wednesday and have a Champions League play-off tie against Feyenoord later this month.
