A Southern California family is mourning the loss of their 13-year-old son, Nnamdi Glenn Ohaeri Jr., whose death is believed to be linked to a perilous social media challenge.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that the teen was discovered unresponsive in his Murrieta bedroom on the morning of February 3, just one day after he had spent time with his family watching the Grammy Awards.

According to reports, when his parents found him, his mother immediately began administering CPR while his father, Nnamdi Ohaeri Sr., rushed to seek help from a neighbor and contacted emergency services. Despite their urgent efforts, Nnamdi Jr. was later pronounced dead.
Although early indications pointed to a potential suicide, his grieving parents remain unconvinced and have started their own investigation. They suspect that the tragic incident may be connected to a dangerous social media challenge—similar to the infamous “Blackout Challenge,” which has been associated with several deaths among young people.
The challenge reportedly dares participants to render themselves unconscious, a trend that has spurred widespread warnings from parents and authorities alike.
Notably, Nnamdi Jr. did not have any social media accounts, and his phone was secured with strict parental controls. This has led his parents to believe that he may have learned about the challenge from classmates or friends rather than through online channels.
In the wake of their loss, the family hopes their story will serve as a warning to other parents about the hidden dangers of social media trends and peer pressure.

“We don’t talk about not following social media trends or playing social media games,” Ohaeri Sr. remarked, adding, “And maybe we need to.”

He went on to express deep regret, questioning whether they had done enough or if perhaps they had been too strict in the past.
Authorities have not yet released an official cause of death, leaving it unclear whether the case will be treated as a suicide or an accidental outcome of the challenge. The Murrieta Police Department has not provided further details on the investigation.
