In a significant move toward boosting energy infrastructure in Lagos State, a delegation from the Lagos State Ministry of Energy, alongside key investors in the Lagos State Independent Power Project (IPP), conducted an on-site inspection of the proposed energy hub in Ibeju Agbe, Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, yesterday 26th of March,2025.
Ekohotblog reports that the inspection team, led by Mrs. Khadijat Disu Agunbiade and Mr. Kenny Awe, visited the proposed site as part of efforts to advance the Lagos State Government’s Gas Fire Power Project aimed at addressing the energy deficit within the region and the state at large.

As part of the tour, the delegation paid a courtesy visit to the Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, at the Council Secretariat, where they were warmly received by council officials.
In his remarks, Hon. Olowa expressed gratitude to the Lagos State Government and the investors for considering Ibeju Agbe as the location for the energy hub.
“This project is a game-changer for our people. It will not only bridge the energy gap but also open doors for industrial growth, job creation, and socio-economic development in Ibeju-Lekki and beyond,” the Chairman said.
He assured the team of the local government’s full cooperation and support toward the smooth implementation of the project.
Also present to receive the delegation were the Leader of the Legislative Council, Hon. Mojeed Olayinka; the Secretary to the Local Government, Hon. Adewale Adebanjo; Special Adviser on Works, Hon. Fatai Alonge; Councillors; the Council Manager, Mr. Dipo Otinwa, and other senior management staff.
Speaking on behalf of the inspection team, Mrs. Khadijat Disu Agunbiade stated that the proposed energy hub is part of the Lagos State Government’s long-term vision to ensure stable and sustainable electricity supply across the state.
“This project is crucial in our quest to achieve energy security and economic prosperity for Lagos residents. We are confident that with the support of the local government, this initiative will be successful,” she said.

Mr. Kenny Awe, another leader of the delegation, also emphasized the importance of collaboration between government and private investors to fast-track the implementation of energy solutions in Lagos.
“The involvement of local authorities, host communities, and investors is key to the success of this project. Together, we can deliver a power infrastructure that will serve generations to come,” Awe noted.
