In a decisive move to safeguard lives and restore road safety, Epe Local Government has engaged the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation over the rising cases of truck-related accidents within the area.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the Executive Chairman, Princess Surah Olayemi Animashaun, on Monday, March 30, 2026, received a high-powered delegation from the Ministry at the Council Secretariat, demonstrating proactive and people-centered leadership in addressing the alarming trend.

The delegation was led by Mr. S. A. Agbomeji, Director of Transport Policy and Coordination, alongside Mr. Edu N., Director of Transport Operations, and Engr. Jenty, Deputy Director of Transport Operations.
Other officials present included Mr. Rasheed Adebayo, Mr. Michael Keldiri, Mr. Bello Oluwaseun, Mr. Fekeade Azeez, and Mr. Ogundano Femi.
Deliberations at the meeting focused on practical and sustainable solutions to the frequent accidents involving heavy-duty trucks, which have led to avoidable loss of lives in recent times.
Key among the resolutions was the immediate identification and installation of safety barriers at strategic locations across Epe to regulate truck movement and reduce risks, especially in densely populated and high-traffic areas.
Speaking during the engagement, the Chairman expressed deep concern over the recurring incidents, emphasizing the sanctity of human life.
“Every life matters and must be protected. We cannot continue to witness avoidable tragedies on our roads. This administration is committed to taking bold and proactive measures to ensure the safety of our people.”
She further reassured residents of continuous collaboration with relevant authorities to prevent future occurrences.
“The safety and well-being of our people remain our top priority. This collaboration is a crucial step toward restoring confidence on our roads and ensuring a safer environment for all.”
The meeting concluded with a firm commitment from both parties to fast-track the implementation of agreed measures, including effective monitoring and enforcement to ensure compliance.
