Nigerian Meteorological Agency, NiMet has forecasted three days of thunderstorms and rainfall across various regions of the country.
A weather update from the agency, sighted by EKO HOT BLOG, predicted morning thunderstorms and moderate rainfall from Sunday through Tuesday in some parts of Taraba and Adamawa in the northern region.

The statement read, “In the afternoon/evening hours, there are prospects of thunderstorms with rains over parts of Taraba, Adamawa, Katsina, Kano, Zamfara, Kaduna, Jigawa, Borno, Gombe, and Bauchi.”
The outlook for North-Central Nigeria includes a cloudy morning, followed by thunderstorms and rain later in the day affecting areas such as the Federal Capital Territory, Niger, Nasarawa, Kwara, Kogi, Benue, and Plateau States.
The statement added, “In the southern region, a cloudy atmosphere is expected during the morning hours.”
It further noted that rain showers are expected later in the day in parts of Oyo, Ogun, Ondo, Ebonyi, Ekiti, Edo, Abia, Imo, Enugu, Anambra, Lagos, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Rivers, Delta, and Bayelsa States.
For Monday, NiMet wrote, “In the North-Central region, morning thunderstorms with rains are anticipated over parts of the Federal Capital Territory, Niger, Kogi and Nasarawa States.

“In the afternoon/evening hours, thunderstorms are expected over parts of Plateau, Kwara, Nasarawa, Niger, Kogi, and Benue States.
“In the southern region, there are prospects of morning rains over parts of Cross River, Rivers, Bayelsa and Akwa Ibom States.”
It added that rain showers are also likely in many areas of the southern region as the day progresses.
On Tuesday, NiMet forecast isolated morning thunderstorms with moderate rain are expected in parts of Zamfara and Kaduna in the north.
It said, “In the afternoon/evening hours, thunderstorms with rains are anticipated over parts of Taraba, Kaduna, Adamawa, Zamfara, Kano, Bauchi, Gombe and Borno States.”
In North-Central Nigeria, morning thunderstorms with rain are forecasted for parts of Niger, Plateau, and Benue States.
It said, “Later in the day, thunderstorms with rains are anticipated over parts of the Federal Capital Territory, Nasarawa, Kogi, Benue, Niger, Kwara and Plateau States.”
Morning rains are predicted for parts of Lagos and Bayelsa States in the south, with rainfall expected throughout the region as the day unfolds.
NiMet, therefore, urged residents to take necessary precautions, warning that strong winds may precede the thunderstorms in some areas.

It added, “Disconnect electrical appliances from electrical sockets. Stay away from tall trees to avoid impact from falling branches and broken trees. Airline operators are advised to get airport-specific weather reports (flight documentation) from NiMet for effective planning in their operations. Residents are advised to stay informed through weather updates from NiMet.”
