The Nigeria Police Force has extended the enforcement deadline for the Tinted Glass Permit requirement to August 12, 2025, following feedback from the public and stakeholders across the country.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, announced the extension in a statement released on Saturday through the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi. He explained that the move was aimed at allowing more time to improve the permit system and ensure that the process is accessible, transparent, and citizen-friendly.

The police said the extension would provide an opportunity for technical and policy reviews, including improvements to both the physical and digital platforms through which permits are obtained.

“The Force has not ignored the voices of Nigerians. Rather, these voices have been instrumental in guiding ongoing reviews of the process to ensure it remains user-friendly, secure, and accessible to all,” the statement read.

The NPF further stated that the extended timeline would allow for enhanced verification procedures, streamlined processing, and reduction in delays, aligning with its broader reform agenda centred on public trust and service efficiency.

Citizens are advised to apply for or renew their tinted glass permits strictly via the official police portal. The Force also encouraged members of the public to report any case of extortion or unauthorized charges by law enforcement agents involved in the permit process.

The statement reaffirmed the Police’s dedication to public safety, digital innovation, and efficient service delivery, urging Nigerians to continue supporting its efforts at building a more accountable and responsive police system.
