EKO HOT BLOG reports that speaking during the Lagos State local government elections in Badagry on Saturday, July 12, 2025, AbdulKarim said her decision was rooted in observing the APC’s delivery on governance. “Looking well, my defection based on performance has been vindicated,” she declared.
AbdulKarim, who ran twice as PDP’s deputy governorship candidate, said the political landscape in Badagry has become firmly dominated by the APC, with opposition parties now virtually inactive. “There is no opposition in Badagry; they have accepted their fate,” she noted.
She also praised the women of Badagry for their participation in the polls, commending their turnout and political engagement during the grassroots election.
The Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) conducted the local government elections across 20 Local Government Areas and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) of the state on Saturday. According to LASIEC, 15 out of the 18 registered political parties in Nigeria fielded candidates for the polls.

AbdulKarim’s defection comes amid a wave of political realignments in Lagos and nationwide, as key figures recalibrate their affiliations ahead of the 2027 general elections.
