Operatives of the Edo State Police Command, working alongside local vigilantes and hunters, have rescued 14 kidnap victims from armed men believed to be kidnappers.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the incident reportedly took place along the Fugar to Agenebode road in Etsako East Local Government Area of the state.

According to reports, the attackers, suspected to be kidnappers, ambushed the highway, opened fire on unsuspecting commuters, killed two people on the spot, and took several others into the forest.
The spokesperson for the Edo State Police Command, CSP Moses Yamu, confirmed that the police received a report about armed men blocking the road with the intent to abduct travelers.
He said the command promptly deployed officers from Agenebode, supported by local vigilantes and hunters, who responded quickly and chased the attackers into the forest.

During the confrontation, a gun battle occurred around Obe Hill near the pipeline leading to Ajaokuta, resulting in the safe rescue of 14 kidnapped individuals.
Yamu added that, sadly, a 12-year-old girl was shot during the crossfire by the fleeing kidnappers.
He also stated that one female victim remains missing, and search operations are ongoing to ensure her safe return.
