Her legal team has been asked to await Senate’s internal decision.
The National Assembly has responded to the legal team of suspended Kogi Central Senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, asserting that her reinstatement remains a matter for internal Senate deliberation, as the recent court judgment did not explicitly order her recall.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that this position was communicated in a letter issued by the Clerk of the National Assembly, through the Director of Litigation and Counselling, Charles Yoila. The response followed a demand letter from Akpoti-Uduaghan’s counsel, Michael Jonathan Numan, seeking compliance with the Federal High Court ruling.
In the reply titled “RE: Suit No: FHC/ABJ/CS/384/2025, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan V. CNA & 30 Ors, Forwarding of Court Order and Demand for Compliance”, the National Assembly argued that Justice Binta Nyako’s July 4 ruling did not compel the Senate or its leadership to take immediate action on the senator’s recall.
“I am directed to reply to your letter to the Clerk to the National Assembly, dated 11th July, 2025,” the statement read. “From our summary of the judgment order, there is no order made on the 4th day of July, 2025, by Hon. Justice B.F.N. Nyako for the Senate, President of the Senate, or National Assembly to comply with.”
The letter explained that the court delivered a declaratory judgment that merely advised the Senate to consider recalling Akpoti-Uduaghan and allow her resume her representation of the people of Kogi Central.
“Accordingly, you may wish to advise your client to await the action of the Senate to exercise their power of recall as advised by the court and in terms with the judgment of the Honourable Court, please,” the letter concluded.

Akpoti-Uduaghan was suspended earlier in 2025 over allegations yet to be fully disclosed to the public, sparking a legal battle and growing calls for her reinstatement.
