The letter was shared publicly by media personality, Dele Momodu.
In the letter, Atiku expressed deep appreciation for the opportunities he received within the PDP, highlighting his two-term tenure as Vice President and his two-time emergence as the party’s presidential candidate.
“As a founding father of this esteemed party, it is indeed heartbreaking for me to make this decision,” Atiku wrote. “However, I find it necessary to part ways due to the current trajectory the party has taken, which I believe diverges from the foundational principles we stood for.”

He added that the differences had become irreconcilable, prompting his immediate resignation.
The former Vice President also extended best wishes to the party’s leadership and thanked members for their support over the years.
Atiku’s departure comes amid the formation of a new political coalition under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), which is positioning itself as a credible alternative for Nigerians.
Notable figures in the coalition include former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi, ex-Kaduna Governor Nasir El-Rufai, former Senate President David Mark, former Minister Rotimi Amaechi, and ex-Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola.
The move is expected to reshape Nigeria’s political landscape ahead of the 2027 elections.
