EKO HOT BLOG reports that JAMB noted that these admissions bypassed its Central Admission Processing System (CAPS), the official platform mandated for all admission exercises in Nigeria. CAPS was introduced to ensure transparency, merit-based selection, and accountability in tertiary education admissions.
JAMB stated that CAPS not only guarantees fairness in admission but also gives candidates access to monitor their status in real time, thereby curbing manipulation and backdoor entries.
The board disclosed that the highest number of infractions occurred at Kano State University of Science and Technology, which recorded 2,215 unauthorised admissions. This was followed by Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (1,215), Gombe State University (1,164), and Emmanuel Alayande University of Education (761).
Other institutions involved in the illegal process include the Federal University of Technology, Owerri; Ambrose Alli University; Igbinedion University; Akwa Ibom Polytechnic; College of Nursing, National Orthopedic Hospital, Igbobi; Achievers University; Nigeria Police Academy; Abia State Polytechnic; Osun State University; Federal University, Lafia; Niger State Polytechnic; Federal Polytechnic, Idah; Edo State Polytechnic; Anchor University; Michael and Cecilia Ibru University; and the Federal College of Animal Health and Production Technology.

JAMB reiterated that any admission processed outside CAPS is deemed illegal and warned prospective students to be cautious. The board further warned that candidates who accept such unauthorised offers risk disqualification from national programmes such as the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
