The sudden passing of Hon. Larry Johnson has left the Houston community in Texas and members of Eko Club Houston reeling with shock.
Eko Hot Blog gathered that Members of the club referred to him as a beloved friend, colleague, and cherished member. His untimely death has prompted an outpouring of heartfelt tributes from across the Eko Club International family.

The late Johnson was an exceptional individual and was deeply involved in the club’s mission and community efforts.
Leading the tributes, Otunba T. J. Abass, President Emeritus of Eko Club International, reflected with emotion on the fragility of life. He recalled how, just few hours ago before his passing, Johnson had been full of life, healthy, joyful, and energetic before tragedy struck when he slipped in the bathroom.
In his tribute, Otunba Abass said:
“Let us use this time to reflect on his life, his contributions, and the legacy he leaves behind.

The passing of Attorney Larry Johnson is a painful reminder of a truth we all must one day face: that death is the ultimate destination for all mortals.
Regardless of our status, accomplishments, or plans, we are all bound for the same journey that comes unannounced and spares no one.”
Saheed Olushi, President of Eko Club International, also shared his deep grief, emphasizing Johnson’s dedicated service to the organization as its former Legal Adviser.
“It is a tremendous loss,” he said. “Hon. Johnson was not only a committed member of our organization, but also a passionate advocate for justice, community upliftment, and cultural pride.
As we mourn this painful loss, we also celebrate a life marked by service, integrity, and excellence.”
He added: “On behalf of the Executive Council and the entire ECI family worldwide, I extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, as well as to the President and members of the Houston Chapter.”
Hon. Olatunji Anthonio described Johnson as a man of big heart, generosity, integrity, and unwavering truth. He praised his loyalty to the ECI California Chapter and hailed him as a true son of Lagos.

“You stood firm, shoulder to shoulder with the best of Eko Club International during some of our most defining moments, under the noble leadership of Hon. Otunba T. J. Abass.
To know you was to love you. You were easygoing, full of laughter, committed, and endlessly dependable.
You gave your time, your talents, and your heart to Eko Club International, and for that—we will be forever grateful.”
Kunle Alaka, President of Eko Club Houston, expressed the deep sense of loss felt by the local chapter:
“His death is not just a loss to his immediate family, but to the entire Eko Club Houston community and everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
May we find strength in our unity as a community and comfort in the memories we shared with him.”
Attorney O. J. Lawal, President Emeritus, echoed similar sentiments and described Johnson’s passing as a personal loss to the entire community.
“This is a personal loss to our community. Johnson was the embodiment of commitment and loyalty. He always went the extra mile to ensure things were done right. He will surely be missed.

In response to the loss, Hon. Tunde Oduntan announced that an impromptu meeting of the Executive Council of Eko Club USA will take place tomorrow at the clubhouse. The gathering will focus on logistics and support planning, pending the family’s decisions on burial arrangements.
