EKO HOT BLOG reports that the match, played at a tense tempo throughout, saw Nigeria dominate early on. Despite a strong start, the South African defence held firm with several key saves and a goal-line clearance. The breakthrough came in the 44th minute when Rasheedat Ajibade calmly converted a penalty after a handball in the box by a South African defender. The Falcons went into halftime with a narrow 1-0 lead.
Banyana Banyana responded strongly after the break, piling pressure on Nigeria’s backline. Their efforts paid off in the 56th minute when Linda Motlhalo equalised from the penalty spot after Osinachi Ohale was penalised for a foul inside the area.
As both sides searched for a decisive goal, coaches made substitutions to inject fresh energy. The game looked set for extra time until Alozie’s stunning strike in the 94th minute. Her long-range ball, intended as a cross, bypassed everyone including the goalkeeper, landing in the net to break South African hearts.
The Super Falcons will now compete in the final against either hosts Morocco or rivals Ghana, as they pursue a record 10th WAFCON title.
