EKO HOT BLOG reports that in a statement on Tuesday, the group’s National Publicity Secretary, Ezechi Chukwu, dismissed the reports circulating on social media as fabrications orchestrated by political mischief-makers. He described the claims as “mischief-driven” and the work of “clandestine starving street urchins.”
The organisation also debunked allegations that it had advised northern leaders not to support Obi’s future candidacy. According to Chukwu, the group remains non-partisan and has neither endorsed Obi nor taken any formal position regarding the 2027 general elections.
“Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has been alerted to a misleading report alleging that the apex Igbo body warned Mr. Peter Obi against contesting in 2027. It also claimed we cautioned the North against backing him. We categorically state that such a statement did not emanate from us,” the statement read.
The organisation further clarified that its legitimate leadership — including Senator John Azuta Mbata (President-General), Prince Okey Nwadinobi (Deputy President-General), and Emeka Sibeudu (Secretary-General) — could not have made such “ignominious” pronouncements.
It warned the public to disregard statements issued by impersonators who exploit the Ohanaeze name to serve selfish political interests.

“Ohanaeze remains committed to the progress of the Igbo nation and the pursuit of justice, fairness, and equity across Nigeria. We will not be dragged into premature endorsements or divisive political narratives,” the group stated.
