President Bola Tinubu has recognized Nigeria’s national women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, with a generous reward package.
Eko Hot Blog reports that each player received $100,000, while every member of the 11-person coaching and technical team was awarded $50,000.

In addition to the monetary rewards, all players and staff were given a three-bedroom apartment at the Renewed Hope Estate.
The President also bestowed on the players and their coaching team the national honor of Officer of the Order of the Niger.
Vice President Kashim Shettima made the announcement during a special reception held in their honor at the State House Banquet Hall in Abuja.
The victorious D’Tigress squad and their officials were warmly received by First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, along with the wife of the Vice President, Nana Shettima, at the New Banquet Hall in the Presidential Villa at 5:05 p.m.
Representing President Tinubu, Shettima welcomed the team in recognition of their remarkable achievement.
Among the dignitaries present were the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila; Chairman of the Senate Committee on Youth and Sports Development, Garba Maidoki; and Chairman of the House Committee on Sports, Kabiru Amadou.

D’Tigress had just returned after winning their fifth consecutive AfroBasket championship, defeating Mali 78 to 64 in the final match at the Palais des Sports de Treichville in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.
This victory marked their seventh overall title, solidifying their dominance in African women’s basketball.
The event mirrored a similar ceremony hosted by President Tinubu the previous week for the Super Falcons, Nigeria’s national women’s football team, who recently claimed their tenth WAFCON title in Rabat, Morocco.
