Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is preparing to unveil a new Gaza war strategy aimed at dismantling Hamas and securing the release of dozens of hostages, with Israeli media reporting that he plans to order the full occupation of the territory.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that Netanyahu is expected to meet security chiefs in Jerusalem this week to finalise directives, while Israel’s diplomats convene a UN Security Council session in New York to draw global attention to the plight of hostages.
Reports from Channel 12 and public broadcaster Kan suggest the Israeli leader has resolved to “conquer the entire Gaza Strip,” extending military operations into areas where hostages are believed to be held.
The development follows 22 months of relentless fighting triggered by Hamas’s October 7, 2023 attacks, which killed 1,219 people in Israel and led to hundreds of abductions. According to Gaza’s health ministry, over 60,900 Palestinians have died, with humanitarian agencies warning of a deepening famine affecting 2.4 million residents.
Hamas and the Palestinian Authority have rejected Israel’s plans, accusing Tel Aviv and Washington of stalling ceasefire negotiations.
“We want an agreement that ends the war. The ball is in Israel’s court,” Hamas official Husam Badran told Al Jazeera.

Netanyahu faces mounting domestic pressure as families of 49 hostages demand a truce, while far-right allies push for reoccupation of Gaza and greater control over the West Bank.
Meanwhile, Israel’s defence ministry announced plans to partially reopen private trade with Gaza, allowing limited shipments of staple foods, baby formula, and hygiene products under strict security checks.
Despite growing international calls for a ceasefire, Netanyahu insists Israel’s objectives remain unchanged: “the defeat of the enemy, the release of our hostages, and ensuring Gaza poses no threat to Israel.”
