Brilliance, confidence, and academic excellence took center stage as the Eredo Local Council Development Area (LCDA) held its much-anticipated 2025 Preliminary Spelling Bee Competition, a platform dedicated to discovering and nurturing young intellectual talents.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the competition brought together pupils and students from both primary and secondary schools, who showcased remarkable spelling skills and mental alertness before an excited audience of teachers, parents, and education enthusiasts.
In the Primary School Category, Bankojo Deborah of St. Paul’s Anglican Primary School, Igbooye, emerged the winner, while Jubril Taiwo of UPE Primary School, Odogbawojo, and Ijeh Victoria of Pobo Community Primary School, Poka, secured the second and third positions respectively.
For the Secondary School Category, Bodunrin Halimat of Nazareth College, Ibonwon, claimed first place, followed by Tejumola Oreoluwa of Lagos State Junior Model College, Igbonla, in second place, and Okhumen Esther of Odomola Junior Secondary School in third place.
The outstanding winners are now set to represent Eredo LCDA at the state level, as the council continues to champion initiatives that encourage literacy, academic excellence, and youth development.
Commending the students for their impressive performances, the Executive Chairman of Eredo LCDA, Hon. Ismail Monsuru Akinloye, represented by the Vice Chairman, Hon. Lateef Adesanya, emphasized the importance of education as a tool for empowerment and future success.
“Education remains the most powerful weapon we can use to shape the next generation. I urge all our young learners to remain focused, disciplined, and hungry for knowledge,” he said.
In her remarks, the wife of the Executive Chairman, Mrs. Ismail Oyinloluwa, highlighted the administration’s ongoing investment in education, noting that the continuous renovation of schools, provision of learning materials, and support for teachers have greatly enhanced learning outcomes across the LCDA.
The event concluded with cheers and excitement as students, teachers, and parents celebrated Eredo LCDA’s sustained commitment to promoting education and intellectual growth.
Indeed, the 2025 Spelling Bee reaffirmed Eredo’s belief that every child is a seed of greatness, waiting to be nurtured, supported, and celebrated.
