At the official launch, the Director of the Social Protection Coordinating Department, Mrs Oluwakemi Garbadeen-Adedeji, representing Permanent Secretary Mrs Olayinka Ojo, reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to ensuring assistance reaches those who need it most. She highlighted that the registration would help the government identify households that had been missed in previous exercises.
“This registration is a crucial step towards providing targeted support for poor and vulnerable households,” she said.
Alhaja Arikawe Adewale, Chairman of Ajibola CDA, on behalf of the community, commended Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his administration’s social protection programmes. He asked visiting officials to convey the community’s gratitude, describing the initiatives as “the dividends of democracy” and noting the strong turnout of residents for the registration.

The exercise forms part of the Lagos State Government’s ongoing integration of the Lagos State Single Social Register (LASSR) with the National Identification Number (NIN), which began on April 9 across the state’s 57 local government areas and local council development areas.
The LASSR, a subset of the National Social Register, provides a comprehensive database of poor and vulnerable households in Lagos. It is essential for identifying eligible beneficiaries and ensuring efficient delivery of targeted social interventions.
The ministry stated that the update will help capture all eligible households in the state’s social protection programmes, allowing for more effective and equitable distribution of government support.
