The United States (US) Mission in Nigeria has directed visa applicants to provide details of all their social media accounts used over the past five years as part of the application process for the United States of America (USA).
Eko Hot Blog reports that while announcing the development in a post on its official X page on Monday, the US Embassy explained that applicants are required to disclose all social media usernames and accounts used within the last five years on the DS160 visa application form.

According to the embassy, this measure is part of the US Department of State’s efforts to strengthen national security through stricter screening procedures. Applicants must also confirm that the information provided in their visa application is accurate before signing and submitting it for review.

The mission warned that failure to comply with this requirement may result in visa denial and possible ineligibility for future applications.
The statement read: “Visa applicants are required to list all social media usernames or accounts from every platform they have used in the past five years on the DS160 visa application form.
“Applicants must certify that the information in their application is accurate before they sign and submit.
“Failure to provide social media information could lead to a visa refusal and disqualification from future applications.”
