US President Donald Trump said on Monday he hopes to meet North Korea’s Kim Jong Un again, possibly this year, during a White House meeting with South Korea’s new leader, Lee Jae Myung.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the talks began with an awkward moment when President Trump dismissed a sharply worded social media post he had made just hours earlier that had criticized South Korea.
Trump called the post a “misunderstanding,” saying he believed he was on the same page with President Lee on North Korea.

President Trump, who met Kim three times during his first term, praised his relationship with the North Korean leader. He told reporters, “Someday I’ll see him. I look forward to seeing him. He was very good with me.”
President Lee, a progressive leader who supports diplomacy, complimented his host and said Trump had made the United States a “maker of peace.” He told Trump he looked forward to a new meeting with Chairman Kim and even mentioned a “Trump Tower” in Pyongyang.
During the meeting, Trump also made it clear he would push South Korea to provide greater compensation for the 28,500 US troops stationed in the country. He even suggested the US could seek ownership of the military base land.
