The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has confirmed that one of its Abuja to Kaduna train services derailed on Tuesday morning.
Eko Hot Blog reports that in a statement signed by its Managing Director, Kayode Opeifa, the incident occurred around 11:09 a.m. at kilometre 49, between Kubwa Station and Asham Station.

Opeifa said emergency rescue teams, medical personnel, and nearby hospitals were immediately mobilised to ensure the safety of passengers.

He added that security operatives had been fully deployed, and efforts were underway to move all passengers back to Abuja safely.
“We appeal for calm and kindly bear with us at this moment,” the NRC boss said.
Details regarding the cause of the derailment and any possible casualties were yet to be disclosed at the time of reporting.
