The Anambra State House of Assembly has suspended Bernard Udemezue, the member representing Ayamelum Constituency, for three months. The House took this action after Udemezue shared what it described as “damaging content” on social media.
According to Eko Hot Blog, Udemezue, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), alleged in a social media post that his constituency was being marginalized in the allocation of constituency allowances.

The issue came up at the House’s plenary last Tuesday. Tony Muobike, the member representing Aguata 2 Constituency, raised the matter, and the Chief Whip, Jude Ngobili, seconded the motion. The Speaker, Somtochukwu Udeze, then referred the matter to the House Committee on Rules, Businesses, Ethics, and Privileges.
During the plenary on Tuesday, the House passed the resolution to suspend the lawmaker based on the committee’s report. The suspension will last for three months.
