The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has strongly criticised the federal government over the deadly attack on Woro Community in Kwara State, where scores of residents were killed by terrorists despite alleged early warnings.
In a statement released on Thursday, Eko Hot Blog gathered that the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong, blamed the administration of President Bola Tinubu for what it described as a failure to act on intelligence reports ahead of the violence.

The PDP demanded an independent probe, urgent humanitarian intervention, a national security summit, and sweeping reforms to prevent further bloodshed.
The condemnation followed confirmation by Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq that at least 75 people lost their lives in the attack.

Speaking at the palace of the Emir of Kaiama on Wednesday, the governor said the victims were local Muslims who were allegedly killed for refusing to submit to extremists promoting what he described as a “strange doctrine.”
Reacting to the incident, the PDP accused the Presidency of prioritising political interests over its constitutional duty to protect citizens. According to the party, community leaders had raised alarms about the impending attack months before it occurred, yet no decisive preventive action was taken.
“The tragic reality is that credible warnings were reportedly available long before this massacre, but the government failed to act,” the party said, describing the subsequent military response as belated and ineffective.

It added that deploying troops after the killings could not undo the loss of lives or the deep trauma inflicted on the community.
The PDP called for the immediate establishment of an independent panel to investigate the security lapses surrounding the attack, alongside the swift provision of medical aid, humanitarian relief, and temporary shelter for displaced and traumatised residents of Woro.
It also urged the federal government to convene an emergency national security summit involving all relevant stakeholders.
Beyond immediate measures, the party renewed its call for a comprehensive, society-wide approach to tackling insecurity.

This, it said, should include improved intelligence sharing between federal and state security agencies, the implementation of state policing, sustained economic development in regions prone to violence, and functional community-based early warning systems.
Describing the government’s response to insecurity as “ad hoc and reactionary,” the PDP argued that such tactics have consistently failed and continue to result in avoidable loss of lives. It warned that reactive governance cannot address complex security challenges.
“The continued killing of innocent Nigerians demands justice and competent leadership,” the statement concluded. “Excuses are no longer acceptable. What the country needs now is decisive and responsible action.”
