Eko Hot Blog reports that speaking in an interview at the family compound on Monday, August 3, 2026, Akeem disclosed that Olalere had attempted to record the masquerade in the previous year without success.

However, during this year’s festival, she allegedly disguised herself in male attire to record the masquerade’s procession before sharing the footage on her TikTok page.
Addressing the public outcry and subsequent intervention, Akeem explained that family members stepped in to prevent her from being assaulted by taking her to the police station before she was brought to the compound for traditional rites.
He noted that Olalere confessed to the act, deleted the video, and mentioned experiencing illness following her violation of the custom.
The family official also debunked widespread social media rumors alleging that the TikToker had passed away, reassuring the public that she completed the cleansing process safely and has returned home to her family at Oremeji.
Warning the public to respect traditional norms, Akeem reiterated that the taboos surrounding the Oloolu masquerade remain sacred and carry severe cultural consequences for violators.
